Are You Following the Crowd or Your Heart?

How often do you find yourself doing something, thinking to yourself 'I hate having to do this'?! We all do it all the time, and most of us feel like there's no choice in the matter. No matter how much you may hate your job, if you don't do it, you don't get paid, and you can't make a living. This is the way many people end up 'suffering in silence', spending their whole lives doing things they hate, simply because of this 'have to' mentality. Is there a way out? What's the solution?

When talking about doing what you love, most people respond by saying, "Well, I wish I could make a living doing what I love, but if I did that, how would I pay the bills? I can't take such a risk." There will naturally be an element of risk. I mean, there's no guarantee that you will start making a living doing your dream job right away, but there are certainly ways of reducing that risk, and making the transition from your current life to your dream life as smooth as possible.

Before making that transition though, it's important that you have a big enough reason to do so. If you don't have something that you're really passionate about, you won't be willing to go after it. But if you do, you'll find yourself making up all kinds of excuses to avoid doing it. Then you'll find yourself at the end of your life, thinking about how your life could have been different if only you had pursued your dreams...

If anything is holding you back, any excuses or inconveniences, then just think of this way: This is MY LIFE. I've spent 'x' number of years doing what I have to. I don't know how much longer I have before my time is over. Am I willing to accept the fact of spending the remainder of my life doing what I have to? Am I happy to live my life like this? When I retire, will I be satisfied with what I've accomplished over the years? Will I ever be proud of what I've done in this world?

If you find it difficult to say yes to the last three questions, then you are not following your passion, you are not living your dreams, you are not doing what you love to do, and you are not living a meaningful and purposeful life.

The big question you need to ask yourself now is: Am I ready to do what I love? Am I ready to truly live a life filled with a sense of true satisfaction and purpose, no matter what it takes, no matter how much effort I have to put in, no matter how long I might have to work on it?

Or are you happy just to be a 'nobody', just another one from the crowd?

The choice is yours. It's your life. My philosophy is: If I can't spend my life living my dreams, there's no point in spending it in any other way.

Make that first move and don't look back. Ever.
