The Power of Positive and Pure Language: Installing Empowering Habits

Have you ever noticed how some people seem to have exactly what they want? A great relationship, a job that they love, a fantastic social life, time to go to the gym AND bags of confidence and energy to go with it?

You may be asking yourself this question.

Why do some people live a fulfilled life and others seem to miss out? It could be as simple as the language that you use! Yes it really could be that simple. Your self-talk as well as your conversations with others can have a major influence on how successful you are in your life. As you begin to understand the power of pure language, you will also begin to understand the great benefits that can be gained and how using pure language accelerates your success.

Pure Language - What is it?

Language, or more specifically words, that only have a neutral or positive impact on the hearer. Words that support the person in achieving success, direct you towards achievement and empower you so that you have power over your surroundings and the results you achieve. Pure language gives you the ability to choose your outcomes.

If you consider that your brain seeks out what you focus on, you begin to understand the importance of pure language for ensuring that you focus on achieving positive results. Have you ever had the experience where you have purchased something; perhaps a car or a pair of shoes? Suddenly you notice that there are lots of people driving a car like yours and lots of people wearing shoes like yours. This is your brain seeking out a pattern as it makes sense of what is going on around it. So use this knowledge of how the brain works, make your language pure and powerful so that it provides direction towards who you want to be, what you want to do and what you want to have in your life.

As Karen Berg puts it:

"With everything we do and say, there is a force that motivates. When we say things are rotten " that is what we expect, so they are. If we say things are good, things happen that way. We are the motivation for our own lives."

What happens if we focus on something we want to avoid?

What happens as you read "don’t think of a pink elephant"? I bet you are thinking of a pink elephant! In order to process this statement your brain has to imagine what you don’t want before it can imagine what you do want so its process is elephant-pink-not. Notice how the first focus is the elephant. If you say to someone "don’t worry" the brain’s first focus is worrying. If you say to yourself "I don’t want to fail". What is your focus? It is failing. You are giving the direction to your brain of failure. So as a pattern seeker your brain is looking for failure and could find many ways for you to fail!

To change the focus, change the language so that it is pure and powerful. Examples are "I want a successful meeting with my boss where I agree a pay rise", "I want my presentation to be successful" and "I want to remember to post my letter".

What impact does it have on our results?

The thoughts and words that we use filter into our unconscious mind and affect our unconscious behaviour. If we continually accept a thought or words over a period of time to be true, they can become what we call a habit and result in habitual behaviour based on the message we have accepted. This can be an issue for someone if that message is not helping them achieve what they want.

For example, telling yourself "I am so clumsy" over a period of time when you need to be balanced, adept and competent to achieve what you want, is forming a habit directed away from success. So, because of the close link between words, thoughts and behaviours, one way to change your behaviour, and therefore your results, is to change those thoughts and words! Remember where you are today is reflection of your thoughts and language used in the past and you can change where you are tomorrow by changing those thoughts and language.

What impact does it have on our energy levels?

Consider again the statement "I don’t want to fail." How does that make you feel? What happens to your physiology? Consider now "I’m going to be successful." How does that make you feel? What is happening to your body now?

There is an energy attached to all things, including words, and they will trigger a vibration in the body which, in turn, has an effect on how you feel physically as well as emotionally. Some words have a low vibration such as failure, sadness, tired, weak, anxiety, fear and some words have a high vibration such as succeed, happy, confident, strong, wide awake and powerful. You can probably feel that the first set of words vibrate at a lower level of energy than the second set of words. In other words, they can either have an effect of raising your energy levels by boosting you and your emotional state, or lowering them as they drain energy away with negativity.

Since words have an impact on how we behave, the results that we achieve and our whole energy level (sometimes called motivation) they also affect our ability to attract positive energy into our life. Remember if your language leads to a high level of vibration (high energy, feel good motivation) then this is the level of energy you will attract into your life - giving a boost to your aims and supporting the achievement of your dreams and desires.

Have a go...

Like all muscles, the brain develops with a workout! Practice with tools and techniques installs good habits into the unconscious mind that support you in being what you want to be. If you want to get those pure language muscles working, here are some tasks to help you.

For the next 24 hours monitor the language that you use in both conversations and self-talk. When you notice that you are using negative language rethink how you can say what you are saying. Ask yourself the following questions to help:

  • What would I like to do instead?
  • What would I like to happen instead?
  • How would I like things to be instead?

For the next 24 hours listen out for the language that others use to you and notice whether it is pure or not, notice the impact it has on you and your energy.

Overcome Failure in 5 Days!

If you see failure as part of success, you would be able to overcome it soon. Those who have succeeded have failed many times. People from many fields are proof of this. So, in an event of a failure, do not think you are the only one who has failed. Our suggestions here would help you overcome failure in just 5 days.

Day 1: Wise persons learn from their mistakes and failures.

Remember how you learnt to walk as a child? Every time you took a step you wobbled and fell. If you could learn to walk with your own efforts and without any sense of failing, why flinch at failure now? Be wise! There is so much of help out there to teach you.

Today, you are going to write down the top three things that you learned from your past mistakes or failures. You could also write down the possible avenues, which could help you to learn better.

Day 2: Do not dwell on your past failures.

Let bygone be bygone. Once you learned from your mistake you should move on. Dwelling in the past is only a waste of time. When you meet success you would have forgotten all about your failure.

Today you are going to read what you have written down on day 1. Read the list of the avenues you could get help from â€" these avenues could be books, Internet information, teachers, friends, etc. start making plans to approach these factors that would help you to bail you out of failure.

Day 3: Try, try, and try again.

Do not let your fear of failure stop you from trying again to reach your dream or goal. Giving up after a couple of failures would make you falter at anything else you may want to try in life. Overcoming one block would give you confidence to take up other tasks too.

Today, you are going to make use of the help you had got and put your knowledge to test. If you try and failed the first time around it is okay. You could use another helping avenue and try again.

Day 4: Share your experience of attempts with people who are supportive.

Talking to those who care about you may be comforting. Share with your loved ones, that information about whatever you are trying to achieve. Some of them may be able to share their experiences of failure from their past. This might make you realize that you are not the only one who had failed. Close people might encourage you on further attempts and you would feel positive that you could do it, too!

Today, you are going to meet up with those whom you trust enough to share your feelings and experiences with.

Day 5: Realize that failure is a lesson to learn from.

Failures do not make you feel happy, true. But you could turn around such failures into successes by learning to approach your goals from new approaches. Know that preparation and hard work are the essential keys to help you move towards success.

Today, recall a success you had achieved in the past. Remember how well you had prepared for that event. Learn from it and put forth the same kind of effort towards that goal you had failed.

Remember how you learnt to walk with your own efforts? You could fall and learn to achieve your new goal now. A real success is not just getting up after a fall, but getting up each time after a fall.

Finding Your Purpose in Life - Bringing Passion to the Game of Life

If you do not have a purpose for "why" you are doing what you are doing, you may be saying to yourself "something is missing in my work or life". It's often because you do not have a purpose and you want help with that. Purpose is something you create or decide on. Many people think it's something mystical and discovered by accident. It's not.

Ever wonder why it some people seem to "make it" while most of us seem to just wander along aimlessly? Well... that is what happens when you have no clue what you were meant to do in this life. Without vision the people perish, said Moses. And without a vision for your life you are at risk of getting way off course and living somebody else's idea of what your life should be. DO NOT DO THIS! A failure to plan is plan to fail.

Finding your purpose in life is the key factor in setting objectives and achieving goals in your life. If you cannot identify a clear purpose in your life, in your career or business pursuit it is difficult to set and achieve meaningful goals.

Are You In Touch With Your Life Purpose?

If you don't think you're out of touch with your life purpose, take a couple seconds to complete this quick quiz about one area of your life - your career:

1. Are you doing EXACTLY the kind of work that makes you want to leap out of bed each morning excited to begin a new day?

2. Does your work satisfy a deep need within to express yourself, your talents, and your values?

3. Does your work allow for a balanced life - one that leaves time for family and friends, for exercise or hobbies, for you?

4. Are you doing what you love and loving what you do?

Without a clear purpose in life, people easily lose their direction and motivation or the will to continue when life throws them a curveball, when they hit a pothole or face difficult challenges. Without a life purpose, it is difficult to develop any sense of satisfaction for accomplishments along life's path.

On the Path to Finding Your Purpose in Life - The Torch of Passion

The great thing is that it is easy to find your purpose in life and reconnect with your life passions. You could easily reconnect yourself with your life purpose and passions in life. With just a few simple steps, you can identify or confirm what your life purpose is. There are simple, easy-to-use steps to help you uncover what your passions are and what your purpose in life is. Most importantly once you've identified this the rest of your glife game plan seems so much easier:

1) Clarify Your Purpose in Life: Purpose as define by Webster is: "the reason for which something exists, is done, made, etc... an intended or desired result, aim or goal. To intend or resolve." If, for example, your career seems stagnant it could be that you've never clearly defined your career objectives. If you have lost your enthusiasm for your job, family, or spiritually, it's because you have disconnected with the "why". Reconnect with your purpose, once and for all, what your purpose and passion is for your career, family, finance, etc...If you don't know where you're going, you're sure to get there!

2) A Personal Mission Statement. This is the first part of your motivation plan, crossing the gulf between your purpose (career, family, etc...) and achieving your goals. There is enormous power that is unleashed when you write down your personal mission statement. It opens the power of the subconscious mind to seek out and collect the necessary resources to fulfill your goals as determined by your purpose. It also infuses your spirit with the passion of it's connection to your purpose. It is often seen in team sports as the group rallies to the challenge and cause of a championship.

3) Goal Setting and Objectives are a must-have if you want to set and track your progress. While you may have the desire to win the series and championship, it takes planning and those to act on that vision. It is outlining the steps -milestones (interim goals) - that need to be achieved to attain the victory. They are calculated at every step and you must hit those milestones before achieving the ultimate target. How often have your heard a team coach say we lost because we didn't follow our game plan?

4) Self Motivation Techniques. Success is the culmination of the simple yet often overlooked elements of success: purpose, determination, commitment, attitude, self confidence, etc...These words may seem aloof and distant, but they only appear that way when you don't have the first three parts of your plan. These are the internal abilities that have laid dormant over the years. Your innate self motivating techniques are like seeds in the ground laying dormant ready to germinate once the three other component of your plan are enabled. You can awaken these techniques by putting together the first three part above.

Knowing what your purpose in life is for all areas of your life is and how to write personal mission statements can help you lead a fulfilling life. If you have an idea of what you want, you're not afraid of going after what you want. In knowing what you want, this creates internal orientation because you now know what you want and creates the motivation to get it. With the plan and goal setting you know how to get it. By setting out goals along the way - markers to measure the progress of your plan, you'll be able to measure your progress and evaluate results. In this way, you are tapping into your latent self motivation techniques that are the hallmark of any great champion team or individual athlete.

Have Fun Learning Creativity

You have some great ideas. You toss them around in your mind. You tell friends about them. They go nowhere. Why? They go nowhere because of what your friends said or because you have the misconception that only a select few are able to unleash a steady flow of creative genius. And, you, of course, couldn't be one of that select group. That is not true at all.

Anyone who has creative genius will tell you that creativity is very much like a muscle that needs to be developed in order to perform at top efficiency. If you don't learn how to develop creative thinking, this skill, like a muscle will become withered and useless to you when you most need it. On the other hand, keep working at it and this skill will soon be ready for action whenever you need it.

So how do you develop your own personal style of creative thinking?

Well, the first thing is to realize your brain has a greater capacity and speed than the world's biggest and fastest super computer. That's right! Even the world's biggest and fastest super computer cannot store as much information or handle it faster than your brain. You are not limited like a super computer because your brain is not limited and that's where creativity comes from - your brain. It doesn't come from thin air, it comes from within you and you already have the tools needed to exercise it.

So, the first thing is to begin absorbing as much information as you can every day. Grab as much knowledge and learning as you can find. Read, watch, and listen to everything available -- good and bad. Don't judge anything at this point of development because it's not the content that is important, only the process of absorption. Keep your mind open to the infinite possibilities that each piece of information presents. The more you know, the more you'll want to know, and the more your brain will be exercised. Prepare to be amazed at little facts that add a bit of color to your conversations with people. They will begin to see you in a new light.

Next, focus on a creative activity every day. This is as simple as doodling. Doodling is a creative activity. Don't let anything hinder you. Just doodle away, mindlessly. You will unleash a little bit of creative thinking and it will be encouraging to see something you created. In addition to doodling, practice drawing something specific for a couple of minutes each day. You might unleash the artist in you.

Or, grab a camera and start snapping photos of anything and everything. Don't try to be "artsy,” just snap away! You might find you have a knack for photography.

Keep a journal and make a point to write in it at the end of each day. Describe your experiences using words that capture your five senses. What did it smell like, taste like, feel like - you get the idea? You may discover a writer lurking in your brain.

In a short time you'll have built yourself a tiny portfolio or doodles, art, photographs and writings and you'll be amazed at the growth of your creativity. You might actually enjoy those exercises so much that they will become a part of you and you'll be addicted to them.

You've heard it said - Think out of the box. Well, not just yet. Be aware of constraints or blocks to your creative process. Constraints are actually a good thing. It's your brain telling you it needs more knowledge about that which you are struggling. Constraints are the brain's mechanisms to force discipline upon you. Discipline forces you to be more resourceful. Creative freedom is great, but limitations are too. There must be balance.

Oscar winner, Anthony Hopkins, would just get in his car and drive across country alone with no destination in particular. It helped him experience different people in different parts of the country, away from the unreality of Hollywood. These little trips helped him to become a better actor.

Try something new every day and let your experiences broaden your view of the world and people around you. Explore a new neighborhood in your town. Spend an afternoon in a museum to which you've never been before. Chat up someone in the checkout line at the store. You need to open up to the people around you. You need to step out of your comfort zone more and more each day. This will heighten your sense of adventure and your zest for life.

Think about it. When was the last time you did something out of your comfort zone? When you stay in your comfort zone, you miss out on a whole lot of experiences that could add to your growth - emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually.

I would love to try bungee jumping and skydiving but I'm a coward when it comes to risking life and limb. If you have the courage, go for it! At the very least, you will have plenty of exciting stories to share, enabling you to develop your storytelling skills, making you the life of any gathering. People will love to hear you tell about doing the things they only dream of doing.

This next thing will seem nutty. It is. You need to embrace insanity. I'm not talking about the kind that will land you in a rubber room. As John Russell once said, "Sanity calms, but madness (insanity) is more interesting."

History shows that nearly every creative thinker was once deemed insane by "normal" people. Lucky for us, the critics couldn't stop the creative geniuses from changing the world. Being "normal" confines’ people to think - normally, that is, to think within limits society has deemed to be normal. Creativity is essentially ignoring those limits, within the Law, of course. Your creativity may seem bizarre and downright strange to the "normals.” Ignore them and seek out others who also ignore the "normals" of this world. They will know how to help you to cultivate your new sense of creativity.

Now, a word of caution as you step out in your search for creativity. Don't strive to develop a creative "personality." There is a difference between a creative personality and creative thinking. Examples of wacky creative personalities would be George Washington, who often rode into battle naked, or James Joyce, who wrote "Dubliners" with beetle juice because he had an intense fear of ink, or Albert Einstein, who thought his cat was a spy sent by his rival. They were all great men, for sure, but a little wacky at times because they lost touch with reality.

It's important that your creativity doesn't blind you to the real world. Keep your feet on the ground and your head in the clouds! (Look familiar?)

Starting today, begin thinking beyond your "limits." Follow these steps and you'll soon be living a life full of interesting and exciting adventures. Your new level creative thinking will bring about a new zest for living life.

Who knows, your idea might be the next great idea to change the world.
