Personal Development Goal Achievement

Have you ever set goals? Did you achieve them? Probably not if you are reading this! Many times we set goals and fail to achieve them because of two pitfalls. These pitfalls are so subtle that many times they go unnoticed, yet they are the most destructive forces when it comes to your goals. Through one simple personal development power technique you can totally eliminate both these pitfalls and finally achieve your dreams.

Do you recall when you were a child and had all the wonderment that only a child has? When you were asked what you wanted to be when you grew up your answer would change from week to week depending on what had caught your imagination at the time. Never once did it enter your head that you could not be what you wanted. You held the strong conviction that anything was possible. You had the belief that you could be, do or have anything you wanted.

When you grew from childhood to adulthood these positive beliefs were replaced by limiting beliefs as you listened to other people around you. You have allowed your mind to become conditioned with negative beliefs. You have been brain-washed into believing that you cannot achieve your dreams because it is just not possible to do it. This mindset leads to the biggest pitfalls of setting and achieving goals - procrastination and giving-up!

When you were a child you were not afraid to dream big dreams. You gave no thought to how you were going to be an astronaut or how you could possibly learn to fly a multi-million dollar fighter jet - you just knew you could do it and knew it was going to happen! You were not afraid to think big. As you grew older and the world grew smaller for you, your view of your position in life and what was possible for you grew smaller also. Your dreams and aspirations became subdued to practicalities and what you believed was possible for you.

It is in your adult yeras that you have fully accepted the negative beliefs that were offered to you as a child. You have bought-in to the propaganda offered by the media, education system and television. You have also taken on the belief, from your own negative experiences, that you are not capable of achieving what you desire. You have lost your ability to think big.

Back in ancient times when Rome and Carthage were the two strongest powers in the world a Carthaginian leader called Hannibal told his generals he wanted to take his army and 80 elephants across the Alps to fight the Romans in their own terrority. His generals told him there was no way this could be done as in many places along the route even a solitary man would find it difficult to pass. Hannibal responded confidently, "We will find a way or we will make one!". Hannibal's response was swift and to the point, "We will find a way, or we will make one!"

Hannibal had a big dream. He wanted to defeat Rome and make his city of Carthage the strongest and only super-power of the ancient world. He had a big goal and a big dream. He wasn't about to let some mountains stop him!

In order to achieve your goals you must re-learn to think big!

Having a big dream that offers big rewards and life changing results when it is achieved is the only way to stay motivated enough to tackle any challenge or obstacle that stands in your way. When you have a big dream that offers you big pay-offs you will be much less likely to allow fear to get in your way and thus you will develop persistence.

In fact you can never experience failure if you do not give-up. All you can gain is experience. When he was asked what it felt like to fail 9,999 times when trying to invent the electric light-bulb Edison replied," I haven't failed 9,999 times. I have just found 9,999 ways that don't work!"

Stop setting your goals based on practicality or what you think is expected of you. Dream big! With a big dream you will take big action and you will experience big results!

How To Break The Procrastination Habit

You just can’t seem to break the procrastination habit. Failure to take the steps necessary to achieve your goal has started working on your mind. You start doubting your decisions and your ability. Before you know it you settle for something easy or convenient.

Does that sound familiar?

Consciously or unconsciously, each of us forges our own way in life and becomes great, good, average, fair, or poor at managing daily goals. Just thinking and never doing will not help you get you what you want or be the person you want to be. There is an old saying “Thought without action is as useless as action without thought”.

Behind every reality is the thought. Thinking about anything with sufficient intensity causes us to perform the necessary steps to do something about it. Take hunger for example, an empty stomach will get you thinking about food enough to make you take the necessary steps to get food or cook food.

The necessary steps to achieve other goals often don’t come as easy as the example above. The correct order of action is not always so simple. The path to success is not always clear. In order to break the procrastination habit we need a combination of confidence, motivation and action (all are controlled by what we are thinking).

Doubt, fear and a lifetime of unproductive thinking keeps us operating far below our capabilities. Thinking that creates a mental picture of success is hard to come across in everyday life. There just are not many influences that generate success driven thinking or to the power of those thoughts. It takes a source of positive mental phrases, a determined effort and repetition to achieve success.

You have the ability to break the procrastination habit but it will take some mental reprogramming.

Here is a tip to get that new thinking into action…

Confidence comes from taking successful steps toward your goal. When you take a step it will soon be clear if it was the right one. Then you can either move back and start in another direction or move forward to the next step. There is an old saying that I repeat to myself often “you can only steer a moving ship”. This is a great mental picture for keeping the right perspective to achieve your goals. After all, any worthwile destination requires proper energy and direction to reach success.

By using the picture of steering a moving ship and taking steps toward your desired goal you will gain experience and confidence. Over time your mind will replace and push out unproductive thinking patterns. Through repetition you will be teaching your brain to respond with effective, motivating thoughts and decisive action. With your new confidence, you will have the power overcome any bad habits and fearlessly achieve any goal in life.

This is a simple example of the success you can achieve with a single phrase. One that paints a picture of motion and direction to reach a desired goal. What we think can give us the power to break the procrastination habit or sit back an let life go by without direction and purpose.

You can break “brain barriers” in sports, motivation, self esteem, health, confidence and much more. You can literally reprogram yourself for a lifetime of success and achievement. Start Today Visit http://www.ThinkSwap.com

How to expect the best

Do you ever find yourself getting stuck in negative thought patterns and expecting the worst possible outcome in every situation? It's a common mind-set that proves difficult to change when you finally decide you had enough. Unfortunately, negative thoughts tend to breed and multiply on their own - even when you are not consciously trying to think negatively.

The good news is that turning a negative outlook into a positive one just takes a bit of patience and persistence until the positive thoughts begin to take over.

Below you'll find three simple steps to begin forming positive expectations on a daily basis:

1) Develop self-awareness to recognize negative expectations. One problem with negative thoughts is that they often form below your conscious level of awareness, and you get so used to them being in your head that you hardly notice anymore. To turn the tide of negativity, you will have to develop a stronger level of self-awareness. One good way to start is by performing self-checks several times a day. Pay attention first to how you feel. If you're feeling positive and productive, most likely you've been thinking positive thoughts.

However, if you notice that you are feeling irritable, pessimistic or stressed, you are probably focusing more on negative thoughts. When that happens:

2) Challenge and change the negative thoughts. Believe it or not, it's fairly easy to challenge and change negative thoughts with a little willpower and concentration. For example, if you find yourself feeling doubtful about your ability to finish your work on time, you might engage in a bit of self-talk like this: "Okay, so I'm feeling a bit worried right now, but really everything is okay. I'm strong, I'm smart and I'm capable of finishing my work on time. I'll do my best and everything will work out fine." Even though nothing has changed in your outer circumstances, this type of self-talk can get you thinking and feeling more positive.

3) At the same time, while you are changing negative thoughts to positive, work daily on developing a general positive expectation habit. Each day when you wake up, affirm confidently, "Today is going to be a great day! Everything will go my way and I'll enjoy plenty of lucrative opportunities and fun!"

When you encounter obstacles or problems, see them as opportunities to learn, grow and strengthen yourself. Perception is 99% of the game! If you simply work on shifting the way you look at the experiences of your life, you can easily conquer your negative thought habits.

The more you focus on changing your perspective to emphasize the positive, you'll empower yourself to create better circumstances in your life. Before you know it, you'll be enjoying better and more frequent opportunities and attracting other likeminded, successful people to connect with.
