Johnny Depp has bought a £8.58million palazzo in Venice after falling in love with the city last year.

The actor, 47, spent several months in the Italian tourist hotspot while filming The Tourist with co-star Angelina Jolie last year.

And it appears he was so taken with the City of Bridges, he won a bidding war for the 17th century Palazzo Dona Sangiantoffetti.


Stunning location: The Palazzo overlooks the Grand Canal and is situated in the Santa Croce area of Venice


According to local newspaper La Nuova Venezia, the Hollywood star outbid an Arab prince for the empty building for 10million euros.

The Palazzo is one of the only available buildings overlooking the Grand Canal and is situated in the Santa Croce area of Venice, not far from the Santa Maria Mater Domini Church.

While it needs some restoring, it includes high decorated ceilings, a roof platform and ornate columns.

The palazzo would be a holiday home for Depp, his French singer/actress partner Vanessa Paradis and their two children Lily-Rose, 11, and Jack, eight.

During his promotional tour for The Tourist, Depp spoke highly of his love for the City Of Bridges.

He admitted he loved walking through the quiet alleys late at night when the paparazzi who photographed him and Jolie filming during the day had gone home.

He enthused: 'My experience of Venice really happened between 10pm and 2am when the streets closed and I was able to walk around and experience the poetry of Venice, the ghosts of Venice, all those wonderful dark alleys.

'For an actor being able to film within the confines of that magical city certainly helps... The city's magic shone through completely.'

The Venice home is just the latest addition to Depp's property portfolio.

Although based at a 50 acre farmhouse in France, the Depp family also own homes in Hawaii, West Hollywood, Somerset and a 45 acre island in the Bahamas.

He’s been kissed by Katie Perry and Rihanna so it’s hardly surprising that Justin Bieber wants a girlfriend of a certain age.

The pint-sized popstar has said he wouldn’t date Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfield because at 14-years-old she is just too young for him.

Justin was speaking to Jay Leno on The Tonight Show when he ruled out the possibility of a relationship with the True Grit star saying she was too young and added: ‘I'll be 17 in less than a month.’

The 16-year-old presented an award with the actress at The Golden Globes ceremony last week and as Hailee took to the stage towering above Justin in a gorgeous satin dress it was hard to believe she was younger than him.

He added: ‘I think she’s cute’

But when The U.S. chat show host pressed the youngster he ruled anything more than friendship out on account of their age gap.

Justin tweeted about Hailee last week after finding out she had been nominated for an Academy Award.

Before boarding her flight at LAX, she joked on her Twitter: 'Just got stopped at security cos my pants were too baggy ha!'

But there was no mention of her new boyfriend who picked her up from the airport.
Worcestershire teen Lloyd was introduced to Roundi by Richardson backstage at The X Factor final on December 12.

The album will go on sale two months before actual X Factor winner Matt Cradle's debut is released on October 24.

The teenager has spent the past three weeks working on her album with a selection of top rappers.

The 51-gig tour will kicks off February 19 at Birmingham's LG Arena, before ending in Cardiff's CIA on April 10.

Paris Hilton strutted her stuff on the catwalk in Brazil


She's the heiress to a multi-million dollar fortune and with her line of fragrances, make-up and clothing she has cultivated a Barbie-inspired brand based on herself.

But as her empire is expanding so, it appears, is her waistline and the 29-year-old showed off a remarkably fuller figure in Brazil yesterday.

Paris, who was appearing in a San Paulo fashion show, was paraded pretty dresses down the runway flaunting her newly-found curves.

The usually super-slim socialite appears to have been putting on pounds quite rapidly over the past six months.

Her appearance was in stark contrast to the Paris that soaked up the sun in a pink stripey two-piece in St Tropez, back in July.

Pairs enjoyed an extended jaunt around European hotspots on her yacht over the summer and played up to the media frenzy that followed, her flaunting her trim and slim frame in a number of stylish swimwear pieces.

Yesterday while she was still happy to pose for the cameras she was looking at her largest and sported a much fuller figure.

As she modeled the chic designs, which included a black dress with pleated skirt and bright trim, she wore her hair in a French plat on the side of her head revealing a much plumper face than usual.

Paris closed the show as the lead model and wore a stunning strapless metallic dress teemed with huge platform heels.

She tweeted: ‘Just finished walking in the @TritonLovers Runway Fashion Show. The show went amazing! The clothes were so beautiful! Loves it! Brazil rocks’

Later that evening party girl Paris took to the town in a multi-coloured strapless dress with boyfriend Cy Waits.

Paris is not the only famous American face to take to the catwalk in Brazil, Ashton Kutcher is also returning to his modeling roots modeling designs for Colcci.

The 32-year-old actor, who arrived with wife Demi Moore on the same plane as Paris and Cy, was eager to try out the loco lingo and posted a tweet in Portuguese.

Ashton posted: ‘Estou pronto para o Brasil. Brazil esta pronto para mim?’ which roughly translates to I’m ready for Brazil is Brazil ready for me?

Mindfulness Meditation Improves Well-being, Researchers Report

As simple as it seems, mindfulness, with its origins in the 2,500-year-old Buddhist practices of meditation and yoga, has become the latest buzzword in wellness, as study after study confirms its power to relieve anxiety and improve mood when combined with Western therapies.

Last month University of Toronto researchers reported in the Archives of General Psychiatry that mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, which mixes mindfulness meditation with cognitive behavioral therapy, is as effective as antidepressants for preventing relapses in depression.

Dr. Zindel Segal, head of the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Clinic at the University of Toronto, and his colleagues gathered 84 participants who had all recuperated from at least two spells of depression.

Participants were then divided into three groups. One group underwent weekly group therapy. Another received an antidepressant. The third took a placebo. (MORE)

Shopping spree: Kourtney Kardashian was spotted in Beverly Hills yesterday indulging in a spot of retail therapy with son Mason and boyfriend Scott


For the Kardashian sisters, a spot of retail therapy is a pass time guaranteed to put a big smile on their faces.

But the same cannot be said for Kourtney's boyfriend Scott Disick and their son Mason.

The father and son braved the shops with fashion-conscious Kourtney and Kim in Beverly Hills yesterday.


Are you done yet? But while the reality star appeared to be enjoying herself, Scott and Mason appeared a little bored


And judging by their stern looks, the experience was apparently not one they were relishing repeating any time soon.

With a furrowed brow, Scott was pictured relieving Kourtney of her carrying duties of a serious-looking Mason as they left the Barneys New York store.

This then freed up the 31-year-old reality star to clutch her bags of purchases, along with her sister Kim.

Their younger sibling Kendall Jenner, 15, was also spotted out on the shopping trip.

Kourtney and Kim were seen on the Piers Morgan Tonight show on Thursday, where they plugged their new reality show.

They also discussed, among many things, their figures, with Kim saying she and her sisters promoted a healthy body image to their fans.

'We're not your typical stick-thin skinny girls you see in the magazines,' she told Morgan.

Australian actress Sophie Monk has admitted she regrets succumbing to cosmetic surgery.

The 31-year-old, who moved from LA several years ago in search of a career in Hollywood, has for the first time admitted to having surgery 'everywhere'.

She has had fillers in her lips and regular Botox injections around her forehead and eyes and is also said to have undergone a breast enlargement.

The blonde, who has appeared in the comedies Click and Date Movie, says it all started when she had collagen injected into her lips following a botched removal of a cyst.

'Half of my lip was removed with the cyst, and I was advised to get filler in my top lip to help balance it out,' she told Australia's Who magazine this week.

'I should have said no to the filler in the first place but I trusted the doctor.'

It is unclear if her ex boyfriend, plastic surgeon Dr John Diaz, performed the procedure.

'I’m so sick of people saying that just because of my lips, I’ve has surgery everywhere,' she continued.

Monk also admitted she has battled with unhealthy eating.
'The stress of this business tends to come out through my body. Either I eat too much or I eat nothing. I need to be more responsible for my body,' she said.

Monk announced her engagement to American businessman Jimmy Esebag, who is 20 years her senior, earlier this week.

She told Who she has never been happier: 'I know people are going to make remarks about us, but it doesn’t bother me.

'I love everything about him. He’s given me a new perspective on life.'
Esebag is chairman of the board of America's Licensing Holding Group, which owns the rights to the Playboy brand.

Monk began dating Esebag soon after her dramatic split from Diaz, whom she dated for over a year after first meeting in 2009.

She was left broken-hearted last year when their relationship came to an end after she discovered the surgeon in bed with another woman.

Sophie rose to fame in Australia after winning the country's version of American Idol.

She then forged a career as an actress, moving to Los Angeles and becoming a close friend of Nicole Richie.
