Live Luminously

Webster's dictionary defines luminous as emitting light; lighted; easily understood; clear. To live a life that is luminous is to shine, to radiate the very essence of who you are. It's engaging in activities that are meaningful for you. It's experiencing harmonious relationships, holding your head high and maintaining dignity in the face of adversity.

Luminosity is a state of being. It is a reflection of who a person is and transcends happiness. A luminous life means living within your self-defined values and interests. Energy is appropriately distributed across the areas of most importance and life is lived with a sense of hope and promise; being present to one's life.

Would you like more luminous moments in your life?

Imagine for yourself what that would be like. Can you see it? Can you get a sense of what your relationships would be like? Visualize your body. Would you be in better physical condition? What about your checkbook? What kind of shape is that in? How much money would you need to accomplish the things you want to accomplish and generate the lifestyle you desire? On what types of activities do you spend your time? Would it be the same activities you focus on today or would they be different? For one moment allow yourself to dream as you once did as a child. Does the picture in your head resemble your life as it is today?

Nothing is holding you back You already have what you need to bring your vision into reality. You might just need some assistance in molding and shaping it. Your existing foundation may resemble moist, dark, rich soil which needs little attention or it may be hard, dry, cracked clay. Everyone comes to coaching with a unique situation and unique needs. Either way, a trained, objective coach will provide tools to help you identify the steps to create the vision you have for yourself and support you in your journey.

Here are some tips for you to think about as you give thought to how you will craft your vision.

1. Be willing Open yourself up. Consider new ways to approach your goals. Change is rarely comfortable for anyone; be willing to step outside your comfort zone.

2. Know your life's purpose(s) What areas in your life are the most important to you? Do you spend your efforts in those areas? You must know what your life's purpose is in order to clearly articulate your vision. This can be a difficult thing for many to pinpoint. A coach can help you identify what your purpose(s) is. Once you identify your purpose(s) you can set goals that have meaning for you and structure an action plan around them. This is when it gets fun.

3. Recognize your gifts and talents Acknowledging our own gifts and talents is often difficult to do. In this competitive world, all too often, we spend our time focusing on what needs improvement in order to remain marketable, appealing, capable, humble, etc. Unfortunately, the strengths we currently possess receive secondary attention. What if you could succeed in whatever you wanted to accomplish by simply expanding on the gifts you already possess?

4. Identify what support you will need Once you know what you are aspiring towards and what strengths you bring to the table, you can see what support you are going to need. If it is a class you need to take, you can sign up. If it is a certain amount of money you need to save, you can set a budget. The support you need may be something a friend, spouse, co-worker, etc. can provide or it may require a specific skill for which you will need to hire out. Once you've identified what it is, then you can put steps in place to get the assistance you need.

5. Celebrate Celebrate!!! Celebrate each success in your journey. Celebrate your effort. Celebrate the courage you demonstrated in pushing past your comfort zone - even if you did not get the result you desired. Pick yourself up and try again.

6. Be grateful I think this is so important. It is so common for people to get side-tracked by daily responsibilities and lose sight of the wonderful things going on right in front of them. What a shame. While you are on your journey, remember to give pause and appreciate what you currently have, loved ones in your life, your health, etc. There is always something in our life that is beautiful. Even in our moments of distress there is something wonderful going on. We might just have to look a little bit deeper.

Blessings!

Big Mac Meatloaf

We love meatloaf at our house, and it's always fun to come up with new and delicious ways to cook the same, yummy comfort food. This recipe combines meatloaf with the flavors from McDonald's Big Mac sandwich - what could be better? And if you've never tried a Big Mac from McDonald's, I'd say you're seriously missing out. So go try one, and then make this meatloaf so you can see just how perfectly the flavors match!

Ingredients:
2 lbs ground beef

2 eggs

3/4 cup Italian breadcrumbs

1 cup thousand island dressing

1/4 cup chopped pickles or sweet relish

1/2 cup chopped onions, sauted until translucent

salt and pepper

1 cup shredded cheese

Combine all ingredients except for cheese; mix well.

Once well-combined, mix in the shredded cheese. Divide in half, and form each half into a loaf shape. Place in a baking dish.

Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes. Our meatloaf was served with cheddar mashed potatoes, but green bean casserole, baked potatoes, corn or even just a simple salad would all go great with it!

Don't let the fact that this recipe makes 2 meatloaves scare you into halving the recipe. It's so yummy that you probably won't have any leftovers in the first place. If you do have leftovers, though, just make your own Big Macs out of them later in the week. Top the meat with some more Thousand Island dressing, a slice of cheddar, some lettuce and then serve on soft hoagie roll or hamburger bun - yum!

Self Improvement Advice

There are particular moments in life that when you wish you could depend on anybody's self improvement advice. But even if they gave it to you with the best intentions, in case anything goes wrong, you are always going to blame those persons.

That is why specialists strongly advise you, every time you find yourself at a crossroads, to always take the decisions by yourself.

The question arising is: how can we know how to take it and which is the best solution?

No matter how young or old you are, you must have gotten to a point in your life when you have to take a big decision, which will probably affect your entire existence.

There is no doubt that there are certain moments in life when you feel helpless and disoriented and believe you could use some self improvement advice in order to figure out how to proceed with your life.

The answer is never simple. However, there is one self improvement advice that can be of great help and employed regularly will have great results.

It is called meditation and it has been used for centuries in certain rituals and by ancients civilizations. Even in old and famous books, like the Bible, people are invited to meditate, to discover and fight the evil in us and by knowledge to gain control over our decisions and our lives.

How do we proceed when meditating?

First of all, you need to be away from any source of distraction. You cannot analyze your deepest feelings and thoughts and watch a movie at the same time.

Secondly, you need to ask yourself a series of questions that will help you to better determine who you really are. The questions should relate to everyday aspects.

What do you like doing?

What made you most proud of yourself during your entire life?

What is it that you always wanted to do and you never found the time?

What role does money play in your life?

What is it more important for you, you family life or your career?

How much do you depend on others?

If you are worried about a certain decision, let all the questions be related to that issue. If you are just confused when asking the questions, think about the common topics that one has to deal with during his life.

Do not forget to write down the answers. Try to concentrate and to be sincere. After all, nobody will judge you.

All these questions will help you determine exactly where you stand and what is it that you want form life. All you have to do is to get the right interpretation of your own replies.

In order to do that, help yourself to a coup of tea or your favorite coffee and take the time to analyze them thoroughly. Mark with a red pen whatever you find pride worthy answers and with a black one the things that do not make you proud.

Post the list somewhere where you can see it more than once a day, or post it in more than one place.

You will notice that, step by step, even unwillingly, the black things on your list will start turning red. Do not forget to renew the list when most of it has turned red! It is the best way to always be aware what your expectations from life are.

Take this simple self improvement advice and see the positive results for yourself.

Breadsticks

This is one of my all time favorite recipes, and I wish I could take some of the credit. It was given to me by a friend of mine (thanks, Lisa!). I've modified it just a bit (I tend to do that to nearly every recipe for some reason) to make it faster. My family LOVES these breadsticks. I normally make a double batch because they go so fast!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups warm (105-115 degrees) water

1 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. yeast
1/2 tsp. salt
3-4 1/2 cups flour

In a large bowl or the bowl of your mixer, combine water, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 10 minutes or until yeast is bubbly.

Add salt and stir. Add 1 1/2 c. flour and mix well. Gradually add more flour until dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.

Spray a glass or metal bowl with cooking spray and place dough in the bowl. Cover and allow to rise for 45 minutes or until doubled in bulk.

Remove from bowl and place on a lightly-floured surface. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray. Roll into a rectangle and cut into 12 strips with a pizza cutter. Stretch out each piece a little bit and then twist it. Place each twisted bread stick onto a baking sheet that has been sprayed with cooking spray.

Cover pan, and allow dough to rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 425. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. When they're done, rub them with butter, and then sprinkle them with garlic salt and parmesan cheese.
Now, see how long they last. . .
