I Like...

I like...this lovely dining room scene from a guest house based in Hourglass Vineyards in Napa Valley, USA. A good combo of the classics - galvanised Tolix chairs along with the Leran pendant light and Rand rug from Ikea.

Industrial Antiques

After my Tolix chair posting last week, Lou from Domestic Scene let me know that a set of 6 original Tolix chairs are for sale from an antique store in Auckland. When I went to check them out on this website, there was a great collection of industrial antiques to look at. Like the aluminium storage boxes, the Brille Factory Clock (C.1930), the french metal console tables (c.1940) and the shoe rack shelving unit from a French factory. Plently to look at. Thanks for that, Lou.

Product - Tolix chairs

Here is a design classic that is fast becoming a favourite of mine - the A56 chair by Jean Pauchard for Tolix (created 1907).
Made from sheet metal and dipped into molten zinc (galvanised), which means they don't rust and are hardwearing. They look great outside as well as at the dining table. Check out the Tolix website for colour choices.
If you see the Albion Caff posting down below, Terence Conran put the red Tolix chairs outside the cafe - he is also a fan. He says
'They symbolise democratic excellence, a mass-produced object that is universally accessible – in a word, social.' Hear, hear.

Admiring...

Today I am admiring this cafe/bakery by Terence Conran called Albion Caff in Shoreditch, London. I have watched Terence Conran's work for some time and he just pulls off the great combination of simplicity, classic and recycled. The overall effect is harmonious and with great details, including the red outdoor Tolix chairs, vintage hanging pendants and golden syrup containers holding the nakins and cutlery.
