I Like...

I like...these simple interior and architecture photgraphic images. The bottom two images remind me of those peaceful still life paintings by European Masters from centuries ago.

I have spoken of the clever Sharon Montrose before. She is an animal photographer and a really good one - read my previous posting about her here.
Montrose came up in a conversation the other day with a design school friend who is doing up her future baby's nursery. She is going to source some of the cute baby animal photos for the walls, which I think is very cool.
After talking about her, I decided to check out Montrose's Animal Print Shop to see her latest work and found this great Flamingo series - aren't they amazing? This is probably the only time I will see this stunning bird up close. (NB: you can click on the photos above to see them larger.)
She has also been taking photos of dogs in action, tails (yes, really), babies and owners with their pets. All fantastic photographs - the animals just come to life and great expressions are captured. You can check out her varied portfolio here. She also has a blog where you can see her work and the happenings with her personal comments.

Below are some examples of her work on the walls...you can see they fit into all kind of interior spaces. Go on, have a look on the website and choose your favourite animal.

Photographer - Ditte Isager

Much admired Danish New York-based photographer Ditte Isager now has a blog. She has been posting her beautiful commercial photographic work, which includes interiors, lifestyle, personalities and travel.
I like the soft tones of the elegant interiors that Ditte has taken above - soft grey along with black/off white and shots of soft pink and turquoise. Lovely.

Inspiration - Pia Ulin, Photographer

Looking through Emma's Design blog, I came across the work of Swedish photographer, Pia Ulin. I recognised her interior photographic work from my numerous meanderings through magazines and books.  I can now to put her name to the work.

Neil Pardington

My brother in law, Neil Pardington is having his exhibition opening this Thursday 5th November at the Christchurch Art Gallery. His works for 'The Vault' are taken behind the scenes of institutions like museums and galleries. Neil has captured how beautiful these banal and ordered storage places can be. If in Christchurch, check it out or have a look at his website.

Sharon Montrose

I am a fan of photographic art and I have been admiring the work of Sharon Montrose. She photographs animals and yes, these are real animals from private zoos in California. I love the simplicity of these photos and seeing these intriguing animals up close. Imagine one of these looking back at you on the wall everyday.

Looking for Inspiration

Here's one way that I research for inspiration - if I like particular photos or interiors in a magazine, I look up the photographer's portfolio on the internet. These photographers capture some fantastic houses and usually there are more images of the same house, which didn't make the cut for the magazine, on their website. The photos above are by a photographer called Melanie Acevedo. Have a look at her work here.
