Instantly Share Gigabytes of Files via P2P with Sendoid Posted: 26 Mar 2011 11:08 AM PDT Peer to Peer aka P2P is one of the most popular way of sharing files online and here I share another small tool to share files with anyone instantly and securely. Just select File and pass on the download link – as easy as that. Sendoid is a Adobe AIR based application with which you can share files with your friend on other side. Being AIR based, application is cross platform compatible whether it is Linux, Mac or Windows. Open the program > Select the File to be shared > Click the download link so generated and Share it. The file so shared isn’t hosted on any web server as it uses P2P technology, and the person on other side downloads the file from your computer. The person downloading the file can access the download link via web browser and he doesn’t need to have Sendoid installed. Color- Different Kind of Photo sharing app for Android and iPhone Posted: 26 Mar 2011 11:00 AM PDT The latest photo sharing app 'Color' is the coolest social media platform for iPhone and Android users. There has been a lot of buzz with its revolutionary approach. This app does not have friends or groups to share pics and videos with, rather items get shared automatically with all Color users who are within 150 feet of where they were taken. This means that each user can get multiple points of view of the same subject. The Color team, including CEO Bill Nguyen, described situations where this app can be helpful- a Color user attending a concert with his phone full of photos from everyone else using the app. It would be interesting if someone would take photos from backstage, so that you can see band members prepping themselves for the sets. Links to the albums can be shared via Twitter, Facebook, e-mail, or SMS. This app has set the tech world by storm. its radical functionality is responsible for much of the enthusiasm surrounding the app. On Thursday, it received a $41 million pre-release cash injection from venture capitalists, although the first day reviews were not very good. Many say that the app is useless unless used within the vicinity of other Color users. Users also complained that the app includes very little instruction for how to use it, and doesn't explain what the app does. The app is also making the users lonely as their pictures are the only ones that show up in the app when they use it alone. Also there are some privacy concerns, as all pics and videos get shared automatically. The Color team has already started working on an update to fix the 'loneliness' issue. According to CEO Bill Nguyen , the update will do two things: First, make it impossible to use the app unless other Color users are around; and second, increase the distance required for another user to be considered "nearby." The update should be available as soon as the middle of next week. Till then, Color users are asked to get more friends. The app is available at the Apple app store and the Android marketplace. Google releases Chrome 12 to Dev channel Posted: 26 Mar 2011 04:49 AM PDT The guys at Google are surely busy a lot. They have pushed through yet another browser release this month, the Chrome 12. Earlier this month we have seen the release of Chrome 9 Final, Chrome 10 Stable, Chrome 11 beta and now the Chrome 12 Dev(12.0.712.0) for Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome Frame. Looking at this schedule, it does not surprise that Chrome is starting to grab a major share of the browser market. Mozilla finally released Firefox 4 after a dozen beta and two RC releases over a period of more than one year. Microsoft has also taken nearly a year to roll out IE9. Whereas within the same time period, we have seen numerous browser releases from Chrome. This release supposedly contains many fixes, Chrome’s Javascript engine V8 has been updated to 3.2.3.1 and it also includes Multi-Tab select for the Windows version. Tab multi select enables the selection of more than one tab using the CTRL key and performing a common action on them. This version is meant for testers only, and the end users should stick to Chrome 10.
