This is an excercise that I use daily, before I meditate, and if I just need to chill a bit during the day. This excercise was inspired by Dr. Andrew Weil. It is his 4-7-8 breathing technique.
First you exhale through your mouth.
Then you inhale through your nose, with your mouth closed and your tongue in a yogic position, (that is just lightly touching the little bit of skin just behind your front teeth) to a count of four.
Hold your breath for a count of seven.
Exhale through your mouth for a count of eight.
Repeat the process four times.
This always helps me to relax and I know it will help you as well..
