Motorola DROID 2 Explodes in man’s ear in USA Posted: 03 Dec 2010 07:34 AM PST Imagine you just bought a new phone 2 days ago and suddenly when you are using it , you hear a noise and then blood starts running down your face. This is what happened to Aron Embry from USA.His brand new Motorola DROID2 exploded in his ear and he had to be hospitalized Luckily no hearing loss occurred and he received 4 stiches due to the shattering of the glass in his ear.Surprisingly the phone is still working and can receive calls. Normally we associate phone explosions with battery misuse but in this case the battery inside the phone is intact. The real reason for the explosion is likely to surface only after investigations are conducted. Here is what Motorola had to say about the incident "Motorola's priority is, and always has been the safety of our customers, and all Motorola products are designed, manufactured and tested to meet or exceed international and local standards for consumer safety. We will reach out to the consumer and investigate this thoroughly." via AndroidCentral | Source : WFAA |
Apple Patents Glass-Free 3D Projection Technology Posted: 03 Dec 2010 03:51 AM PST Apple has just been granted a patent on a technology that can produce 3D images without the need for glasses. The basic idea behind this is that the images are projected onto reflective and textured surfaces and are then bounced back into our left and right eyes resulting in a stereoscopic effect. There are various advantages to this technology, for one it enables users to watch in 3D without the irritation of having to wear glasses and it also allows multiple users to view the images or videos simultaneously. This technology is also a step ahead of current glassless 3D technology as it does not require the viewer to sit in one specific spot without moving. This technology allows users to move and still enjoy the benefits of 3D. The patent was filed back in 2006 and has just been approved. We are not sure when we can see it in their products but the idea of 3D iPhones, iPods and iPads sounds cool. via g4tv |

Meego Phone and Tablet spotted in Russia Posted: 03 Dec 2010 02:22 AM PST Intel has reportedly shown off MeeGo phones and tablets in Russia according to someone who has attended the event. The MeeGo phone is expected to be powered by Intel's Atom processor and seems to have a HI/LO VIBRANT branding There is a 5MP Camera with Flash on the Back and a Front Facing Camera. The phone is running on MeeGo. Here is a tablet powered by MeeGo OS. It's been almost 1 year since we heard about formation of MeeGo during MWC 2010. If we don't see Meego devices at MWC 2011 , I think it's time we gave up on MeeGo. Via MeegoExperts |
