Classic RT / Old Retweet Feature in New Twitter

Posted: 25 Nov 2010 08:05 PM PST

Before the native Retweet feature was launched by Twitter, we used RT to accomplish it. Some of you may still prefer old Retweet style and it is possible to do that when you are on some client application but on NewTwitter, you cannot.

New Twitter interface is compilation of various web apps so, add one more mod to it to get old-style Retweet option right there. Just install Classic Rewteet addon for Firefox or Chrome and you will be able to see the new option called “Classic Retweet” below every tweet.

Also, it is available as Bookmarklet which you have to drag to toolbar if you don’t want to add another extension to your browser.

TopWinPrio is Free Alternative to Tune Up Live Optimization

Posted: 25 Nov 2010 06:25 PM PST

One of the new features that Tuneup Utilities 2010 integrated was Live Optimization that helps in giving more priority to active application while switching inactive ones to lower priority. This feature is helpful whenever you are working with heavy applications like Photoshop, playing heavy games etc. Enabling this feature basically speeds up application start ups as they get higher CPU power and resources. You may want to have this feature but Tuneup is not a free application. TopWinPrio is a free application that can perform this task easily.

TopWinPrio is a small application available in both installer and portable versions and compatible with all windows from xp. It is a simple application with a very easy to use application. It consists of three settings windows, the priority list shows the applications that are loaded and given priority.

You can alter some basic settings according to your needs. The time interval after which the application refreshes itself for processes can be predefined. You can also assign the priority of active and inactive applications. It is strongly recommended to keep the priority for active as it is because changing it to High may result in system freeze at times when there are many applications running.

TopWinPrio can be selected to start with windows or can be started manually. The notification options sec be selected according to application priority level.

My Verdict: This application gives you more options to configure than Tuneup Live Optimization. Options to select priorities manually for active and inactive applications makes it more flexible. It also has a portable version along with installer which makes it extremely useful.
