Google Books is a large collection of online books that users can benefit from. This service can be availed online and books can be searched according to need. GooReader is a light weight desktop client making this task easier hence reducing the endless time one has to spend online in search of books.

Gooreader is a small application that has a free as well as paid version. There are no usage restrictions in the free version apart from saving the books in pdf format which is only allowed in the paid version. Using this application is very simple, it provides an interactive interface to work with. You can search for book name or topics on which you require books for.

Books that appear in search are categorized according to their preview type i.e full preview, partial preview or no preview. If you want books with full preview only then checking the full preview option returns search results of full preview type.

How to Use Android Device as an External Touchpad and Keyboard

Has your mouse or keyboard gone haywire, or you just want to sit back on your recliner, relax and type your office document on your laptop. Well now Android users can turn their device into a wireless touchpad and mouse to work on their terminal using their smartphone.

Requirements

  1. Java 1.6 or greater runtime environment installed on your laptop or PC that will be acting as the server.
  2. A WiFi transceiver card.
  3. An Android enabled device.

Installing the application and setting up the server

  1. Turn on your WiFi and make sure that it is set to dynamic IP configuration.
  2. Download RemoteDroid server which will act the server on your Pc or laptop.
  3. Extract the zip file and then run the RemoteDroidServer.jar file using the Java runtime environment.
  4. Now when the RemoteDroid server is running you will see a line saying "Your IP address is : xx.xx.xx.xx“. You will need this IP at the later stage.

Setting up your Android device

  1. Download and install the client application RemoteDroid from the Market. You can also scan the blow provided QR code to get the download link.
  2. Once installed open the application from the menu and enter the IP address of the server (The one you got from Step D above) and hit the connect button.settings
  3. voila, the large red square on your phone is the mouse capture touchpad, the two small square act as the left and the right click and the keyboard icon between the green boxes brings up the keyboard.

HP DreamScreen: Interactive feature-rich TouchScreen Device in India

HP has now brought forth an innovative interactive device which has been called the DreamScreen and can be used as a digital photo frame. The device will be able to fetch social network updates and is being accompanied by an icon-based interface with a 18.5-inch touchscreen, which has been reported by ET. There are several functions which the DreamScreen will be able to perform in the presence of an internet connection like the fetching of status updates.

What you can do with HP DreamScreen?

It is a complete infotainment package with news, entertainment, religion, gaming, education and lot more apps built in. You navigate the device using touch based control or via controls built into the hardware. Applications include access to HP’s SnapFish online photo service; a custom version of Facebook for viewing friends, status updates, and photos; access to Pandora music streaming service; HP’s own HP SmartRadio service; and a clock. The device also runs on an OS specifically designed for the system. To overcome the language barrier, DreamScreen, allows users to choose the language (Hindi or English), they find comfortable.

The USB port allows you to connect a thumb drive or external hard drive. The DreamScreen can also play videos (MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4, H.264) and music (MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV). Software for a PC allows you to add content to the frame.

The HP DreamScreen device is to offer IPTV service in India and is said to become available in the Indian market in about 60 cities from November 25 at a price of Rs. 19,999. For the purpose of Internet Connectivity Solutions, HP has even partnered with Airtel and Tata Teleservices. Apart from this, huge organizations as Apalya, Edurite, India Games, India Today, NDTV and Yatra have even raised a hand to provide content for this device. Seems amazing from the looks of it!
